Brother Wind is one of four feature commissioned pieces on the pediatric floors of the OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Geared to appeal to a young population, the theme of each floor is based on a portion of St. Francis’s Canticle of the Creatures that addresses different aspects of the environment. This portion of the canticle is rendered in Herculaneum text, blown to a slanted angle by Brother Wind... while a bevy of balloons and kites use the wind to take off at sunrise. Paintings of our local beauties-monarchs –flitter about, while our most exotic indigenous winged species are encased in plexi boxes.
