This piece was commissioned for a young couples first anniversary by their aunt and uncle. They supplied the wedding invitation and the Dom Perignon label & cork from their wedding gift. They told me of their love of music, nature, and art- and then gave me free reign to create a piece for them! I collaged on a page of Dutch antique sheet music, transferred a portion of a Rachmaninoff piece and a section of “the beloved girl symphony.” A silhouette of a champagne glass stands in front of text that describes the history and making of Dom Perignon. The text is in Cézannes’ font- one that was modeled on his handwriting samples. Honey locust leaves fall throughout the entire piece…
